WLL vs. MBS
Online Class
More Information
Class participation by invitation only. We have all seen the markings for WLL (working load limit) and MBS (minimum breaking strength) on the recovery gear that we use, but what does it mean? This 1.5 hour online session dives deep into the meanings of these gear ratings as well as the engineering origin of their use in lifting and recovery gear. The course starts with basic definitions but then gets into the "why" by looking at the material science and manufacturing techniques that go into having safe gear for the vehicle recoveries we do. Course content includes graphics of concepts, hands on demos, information from equipment manufacturers, and examples of how to use these ratings in selection of your recovery gear. The presenter of the session is a real engineer with over 25 years of experience in both design engineering and four wheel driving. There is plenty of time for questions as well. No direct experience is required for this session, but it is helpful if participants have a basic understanding of the gear and techniques used in vehicle recoveries. Oh, and have a few paper clips handy during the session!
