About Us:

ExploringNH was formed in 2007 to provide information on responsible and legal off-road driving in NH.
The company is run by a small group of individuals who have a passion for the outdoors and the great state of NH. Although the company is technically "for profit", everyone's time is donated and all profit goes to charity or into projects that benefit local communities. Everyone in the management owns and drives some sort of modified 4x4 and can be found out on the trails almost every weekend. Of course, that is when they arent planning the next big event or managing the website and forum.
ExploringNH hosts an online message board with members across the state. Trail runs are put on every weekend as well as camping trips, long term expeditions, and off-road driving training sessions.

Some past events:

Trans New Hampshire Expedition - October 2008

Its 9pm and our speed is reduced to a crawl as the enveloping fog reduces visibility to mere feet. I cant tell if headlights on or headlights off is better. The corn rows on both sides of the road are the only indicators that we are still on track. At this point, we are about an hour late to the meeting spot and this walking pace isn’t helping the situation. A set of headlights was appearing ahead of us. “First car we’ve seen in miles.” Kate says. As it comes closer we both slow and attempt to stay on the non-visible road. It wasn’t until he was almost next to us that we realized it was one of our expedition partners, Jay, totally lost and unable to find the meeting spot in the dense fog. “I could have killed you guys. Where have you been?!” We got him turned around and made our way to the cabin that we are calling home for the night. The other partners arrived over the next couple of hours and we made plans to depart in the morning to the Canadian border.
The rest of the story can be found in the Thread for the trip.

Trail Clean-up - 9/20/08

A trail cleanup was held in Barrington, NH this weekend. With over 20 volunteers in attendance, things went quickly. Five dump-truck loads and a couple pickup trucks full of garbage were removed from the trail over the course of about five hours. Included were over 150 tires (Sorry for filling up your tire barn Barrington Transfer Station)! Everyone had a great time and there was even a bit of four wheeling afterwards. A big thank you goes out to everyone at the Barrington transfer station, the road agent for Barrington, and of course, all of the volunteers!

Class session - 7/13/08
Introduction to off-road driving including proper recovery and spotting techniques.

Drivers new to the off-road and technical aspect of driving were introduced to driving techniques, strategies, and equipment. After the classroom session (held at a beautiful pond, of course) ended, everyone headed off to the trails to put their new knowledge to the test.

Anniversary Run - April 2008

Everyone was invited out to the trails for a long day of wheeling with lunch and a campfire mid-day. With 20 trucks making it out and the snow on the trails, it ended up being a long day, and I think everyone left with wet feet, but it was a great time. Everyone brought their kids and they all had a blast.
